Summary of San Francisco Community‐Wide Carbon Emissions by Category 1990-2010. In 2012, San Francisco completed a community-wide inventory of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for 2010. Having an accurate inventory and conducting annual updates helps the City focus efforts on reducing the largest sources of GHG emissions while tracking progress. In 2010, GHG emissions totaled 5.3 million metric tons (mT), a reduction of 14.5% below 1990 levels.
